The Omni might best be known for its culinary prowess: introducing the Boston Crème Pie into local bakeries, and as the hotel that once hired Emeril Lagasse to spice up its culinary ensemble.
But, to many arriving on flights to Boston, the Omni Parker House Hotel becomes so much more.
What it doesn’t really want you to know is that it’s haunted.
To some reading this, the 10th floor might be officially off-limits; to others, the ones interested in giving themselves a little spook in the spirit of Halloween, the 10th floor becomes the ultimate destination.
It is here on the 10th floor of the Omni Parker House Hotel where a man dressed in period clothes has been spotted outside room 1078, reportedly resembling the spirit of Mr. Harvey Parker himself.
Since the initial sighting, he has been spotted by others, including by a mother and daughter staying in room 1012 where Mr. Parker asked the little girl if she was enjoying her stay.
There have also been complaints of rocking chair noises keeping guests awake when there are no rocking chairs in the entire building.
The third floor is also said to have some ghostly activity. It is on this floor that Charlotte Cushman passed, as well as a businessman in room 303.
The elevators now go to the third floor without being called, and after several complaints of room 303 being haunted, it has been converted into a closet.
Other haunted occurrences in the Omni Parker House Hotel include orbs going down the staircases and a security officer seeing a shadow of a man that immediately disappeared.
If you’re not too spooked by the thought of sharing a room with a ghost, then the Omni Parker House Hotel in downtown Boston is screaming for an October getaway stay! While you’re there, be sure to check out some of these Boston tours!
