Georgia State University Is Promoting Its Next Football Game By Dropping $10,000 From The Sky At Halftime

Georgia State University is playing its family weekend football game against New Hampshire in the 71,000-seat Georgia Dome this weekend.

In order to boost turnout, they’re going to bring the students onto the field, drop $10,000 from the rafters, and let the money fall where it may.

Andy Staples of Sports Illustrated first mentioned the giveaway in his column today. As crazy as it sounds, the school ran a similar promotion last year for fan appreciation day. 100 students at the game were picked to snatch up $5,000 that time.

Georgia St. currently in the FBS, but will join FCS (Division I) as a member of the Sun Belt next season.

Here’s video from last year. It wasn’t exactly a money drop. Money was just sitting on the ground in the endzone and everyone charged it at once.
