UPDATE: It appears the two have patched up their differences. Yomark issued this tweet moments ago, “Saw george richards today. Had a great chat. He’s a good man and knows his hockey and he’s always welcome in the adt club!”
EARLIER: Yesterday while covering the Florida Panthers’ trade deadline moves for The Miami Herald, George Richards frequently used the hashtags #FlaPanthersSalaryDump and #FlaPanthersFireSale. Richards believes that’s what set off Panthers President Michael Yormark, who fired off this tweet at the end of the day.
Richards re-tweeted Yormark’s message and poked a bit of fun at both Yormark’s mention of the “ADT” club (a private buffet/bar in the arena) and his team’s recent success.
Yormark has yet to reply again, but the news of the attack on Richards quickly spread through the hockey media world and many well known journalists jumped to his defence.
Richards insisted that Yormark does not owe him an apology and that both men are aware of their differing opinions:
