Ontario man Gino DiFelice won $725,274 thanks to the replacement refs’ handling of the Seahawks-Packers game last Monday, the Toronto Star reports.DiFelice was betting the equivalent of a 15-game parlay — where he would win an insane amount of money if he correctly guessed every single game of NFL Week Three.
Going into the Seahawks-Packers game, he was 14-14, and he bet on the Seahawks. He won when the refs made a mess of a last-second hail mary that should have been ruled an interception and won the game for the Packers.
Even more luckily for DiFelice, it wasn’t even his picks that won. From the Toronto Star:
“Every week I do a ticket with my picks, and then I ask my kids (Mia, 12 and Marco, 10) who they like. I do one ticket each with their picks. The winner was the ticket my daughter consulted me on. The funniest part is, the ticket I made all of the picks myself, I only got four right.”
He says he could only stand to watch the final two minutes of the game, and he went crazy when the refs officially called the hail mary a touchdown.
If the Packers won, he would have had to split the prize with five other winners.
The call shifted hundreds of millions of dollars worth of gambling bets. But it appears at least one guy made out well.
