A freight train carrying industrial dyes and caustic soda derailed outside Elgin, Illinois early Thursday sending hazardous material teams to clean up and delaying traffic for hours. Initial investigations suggest a piece of broken rail threw the train from the tracks.
Eighteen cars derailed, but the metro line is in full operation as of 8:00 a.m. Friday.
