A former U.S. marine earned himself over $100,000 by smuggling hand guns to the UK to sell to criminals, reports the Guardian.Steven Greenoe sold guns (reportedly Glocks) that he purchased in North Carolina to two British arms dealers who later sold the firearms on to criminals.
The two British men accused of conspiring with Greenoe appeared in court today.
The 37-year-old was caught when he boarded a plane to the UK with four bags. U.S. officials searched the luggage and found 16 dismantled guns and ammunition.
The BBC reports that violent crimes, one of which resulted in a fatality, could be linked back to the weapons Greenoe sold to his British contacts.
Greenoe is currently awaiting sentencing in the U.S.
