Marvel Studios‘Avengers: Endgame’

“Avengers: Endgame” opened over the weekend to an unprecedented $US1.2 billion. It joins a club of $US1 billion-making movies that have hit that milestone in less than a month. In “Endgame’s” case, it only took five days. The movie opened in China on Wednesday, two days ahead of the US, and broke China’s opening-day box-office record.

Another Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, “Captain Marvel,” hit $US1 billion earlier this month, but took 26 days. It took last year’s “Avengers: Infinity War” 11 days.

“Infinity War” was one of five movies released in 2018 to cross the $US1 billion mark last year year. “Captain Marvel” was the first to do so in 2019 before “Endgame” shattered all expectations.

We ranked these movies by the days it took each film to gross $US1 billion worldwide, and we used each film’s gross on the day it passed $US1 billion to break any ties.
