While Google+ doesn’t appear to be a total flop like its previous social products, we still think its going to be nearly impossible to have any big impact on Facebook.Just like Bing has done almost nothing to affect Google’s share of the search market, we expect Google+ will do almost nothing to Facebook’s share of the social market.
One simple reason: Any great feature Google invents in Google+, Facebook can just replicate a few weeks or days later, just like Google does with Bing.
And unlike in search, Facebook employees can hang out in Google+ with ease and just ask users what they like.
Which is exactly what Facebook product director (and funny guy) Blake Ross is doing. On his Google+ profile he wrote, “To everyone who added me on Google+: Please add my colleague +Naomi Gleit! She is Vice President of User Feedback for Facebook, so her job is to take all of your wishes and wants for Facebook and turn them into reality!”
In other words, go follow her, tell her what you like and if she thinks you’re on to something, we’ll do the same.
