Facebook's Cofounder Is One Of The First To Use Same-Sex Marriage Icon

Chris Hughes and Sean Eldridge on Facebook

Facebook has added new icons for couples in same-sex marriages—just in time for the nuptials of cofounder Chris Hughes, who married Sean Eldridge, his partner since college, over the weekend.

GLAAD, a nonprofit which promotes positive depictions of gays and lesbians in the media, praised the move. Facebook recently received a special award for GLAAD for its moves to support gay and lesbian members of the social network.

Previously, same-sex marriages used the same bride-and-groom icon as mixed-gender marriages.
