The iconic Schumy bus (painted in characteristic Ferrari Red) in which the Formula One Champion rode from one race track to another is up for sale. The coach was used predominantly while in Europe and has a mere 53,000 miles on the odometer. The bus which was designed by Pinifarina is an Iveco Domino HDH coach. It is expected that the coach shall sell for £200,000 and £300,000 ($450,000) when it comes up for auction at the RM sale on October 26.
The bus, which can be thought of as a good luck charm for Schumy was used by him during 2001-2005 , a period during which the legend won the last four of his total seven world championships. The beautifully designed vehicile comes with customised red leather upholstery, wooden furniture and a stainless steel trim. Onboard the bus are two separate apartments complete with living rooms (seperate), tables, massage beds, minibars, satellite phones and LCD TVs. A hot water supply makes sure that the shower is comfortable and the WC allows you to ride through the day and night without worries. Clearly, Ferrari was sparing no expense for their star driver, the one and only, Michael Schumacher.
The bus also comes with an independent air conditioning and heating unit as well as a 220V diesel generator. It literally is a home on wheels – one that is a living part of history.
Used sparingly by the Ferrari F1 department, this vehicle was fully maintained by Iveco throughout its four seasons of use, and since acquisition by the current owner in 2009, it was serviced and further upgraded at great cost, including £44,290 for a GBP motor-home conversion, £4,112 for Intastat TV/internet/satellite installation, £1,900 for two Panasonic televisions, £2,000 for a Bose home theatre system, £5,520 for a Hastens Luxuria bed and an additional £2,000 in accessories. Professionally maintained, it is a stunning motor coach and a must-have addition to the collection of an enthusiast who spends many months a year on the road, particularly now that it has received true motor-home conversion.
