You Won't Believe How Much Money Formula One Race Car Drivers Make

Earlier this year, Forbes.com released its annual list of the 50 highest-paid athletes.

Most of us are familiar with the top earning athletes in the four major sports, and know the names at the top of the list.

But there was another group that raised a few eyebrows for some of us on the western side of the Atlantic.

Of the 50 highest-paid athletes (salary and endorsements), seven of them are drivers. And while the NASCAR names may not surprise you, they don’t make as much as the top-paid drivers in Europe. They don’t even make as much as the highest-paid motorcycle racer. Motorcycle!

#5 Dale Earnhardt, Jr., NASCAR, $28.5 Million
