Today’s advice comes from Diana Tremblay, Global Chief Manufacturing Officer at General Motors, via Fast Company:“When reinspiring exhausted team members, I think the first thing you need to do is find out why they are exhausted. What is the issue? In many cases, it’s just that they feel like their input is not valued and they’re unsure of the importance of what they are working on.”
Tremblay’s method of re-energizing exhausted employees is to speak directly to them. If they are unenthusiastic about the work they are doing, this could affect not only their performance, but your company’s services and product.
This is especially true if they’re dealing with customers; you want them to promote excitement about the business. Explain their importance to your business and give them recognition for their hard work. To get employees motivated, Tremblay says you should learn about the things they like to do and offer an incentive for them to do it.
“So if you can find out what they are passionate about, find out what they are interested in, make sure they understand why it’s important to do that. I think you can re-energize just about anybody.”
