Here's What Happens When Your favourite Athletes Strip Down For ESPN The Magazine

gretchen body issue

We all love seeing the finished product of the ESPN Body Issue, but a lot more goes into it than we think.

The athletes, who are not used to posing nude, are first of all, pretty nervous.

They come in, strip down, get made up, and flex for the camera.

ESPN.com put up a series of videos of Chris Blake, Apolo Ohno, Gretchen Bleiler, and Steven Jackson baring it all for the issue.

Speed skater Apolo Ohno posed for this year's issue

Ohno is nervous, he said he's not in the best shape he'd like to be in

Even guys wear make-up for photo shoots!

They greased up a board so Ohno could simulate skating for his shoot

Voila! The outcome

Next up is NBA star Blake Griffin. He said he was pretty excited

Those sunglasses would soon come off. He says it's the first time he's taken pictures with his clothes off

Make-up time for Blake

Griffin said holding this was more challenging than it looks

That's a wrap! Time to get dressed

Snowboarder Gretchen Bleiler was one of the women who posed for this issue

When she arrived the make-up began. She admits she's nervous!

It was so hot out, Gretchen said she was the lucky one to be naked

With her snowboard

Gretchen wanted to be strong and bad arse, she feels like the shoot accomplished that

Steven Jackson is posing too. He said he hopes his mum doesn't fall out of her chair when she sees it

Jackson is a little worried, he just got back from a 2 week vacation in Italy when he did the shoot, so he's not in his best shape

Jackson mentions he's a little overdressed for the occasion

Jackson said it was hard to scream and flex and look attractive at the same time

He says they all worked hard to show the body respectfully, and at the same time show the physique of a beast.
