Eric Trump said a staff member at an upscale Chicago bar spit on him on Tuesday evening.

The incident with Trump, the second son of US President Donald Trump, happened at The Aviary, a cocktail bar in Chicago’s West Loop neighbourhood, at about 8:30 p.m., NBC Chicago’s Mary Ann Ahern tweeted.

The US Secret Service took the staff member into custody,Ahern tweeted. The Secret Service told Business Insider it had no comment.

Anthony Guglielmi, the chief communications officer for the Chicago Police Department, tweeted that the department “was on scene and assisting the United States Secret Service with a law enforcement matter.”

Eric Trump told Breitbart News that “it was purely a disgusting act by somebody who clearly has emotional problems.”

The Washington Post said an Aviary staff member confirmed details of the incident off the record.

The Post noted that the bar is owned by Nick Kokonas, who in January offered the Clemson Tigers college football champions “an actual celebration dinner” at one of his restaurants after the team was served burgers and fries at the White House.
