A number of British police officers who attacked a suspects car and filmed it won’t lose their jobs, The Telegraph reports.
The police officers were attempting making an arrest of a known car thief when they attacked the car, smashing windows with baseball bats and a pick axe handle. The attack was filmed. While the car was stolen, the man inside was found to not be the thief.
All officers were reprimanded for the incident, which occurred in 2008, with one losing rank. Investigations that allege one officer “waterboarded” a suspect are still open.
Incidentally the incident involved Enfield Police, a region of London hit with severe rioting this summer.
