French President Emmanuel Macron’s thumb left a literal imprint on President Donald Trump’s hand at the G7 summit in Canada as they continued their tradition of intense handshakes.

When Trump met with Macron in France last year, the two shared an intense handshake that saw both men clench their fists until their knuckles turn white.

Earlier this year, the two world leaders shared an awkward handshake-turned-side-hug during a press conference at the White House during Macron’s official state visit to the United States.

Trump’s and Macron’s most recent intense handshake came at the annual G7 summit, where Trump received a frosty welcome in the wake of Trump administration policies that have left the US increasingly isolated from its closest allies and trading partners.
