The Emerging Markets At Risk Of Boiling Over

The Economist that has come up with an Emerging-Markets Overheating Index that ranks economies by key indicators to determine their risk of boiling over.

The economic stats factored in the index, which you can explore below, are inflation rate, unemployment rate relative to its 10-year average, GDP growth relative to trend, excess credit (the growth in bank lending minus the growth in nominal GDP), real interest rates, and forecast change in the current-account balance in 2011.

Interesting note: credit growth is escalating in all of the red-hot economies on the verge of overheating that are Argentina, Brazil, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Turkey and Vietnam.
