Lord Buckethead, the “intergalactic space lord” who contested Theresa May’s Maidenhead seat at the general election, has offered to lead Britain into Brexit talks with the European Union.
Fresh from standing as against the prime minister on Thursday, Lord Buckethead has been called upon by comedian John Oliver to leader divorce negotiations in Brussels, which are set to begin this summer.
Lord Buckethead, whose Twitter bio says enjoys “planet-conquering, dominating inferior species, and Lovejoy,” made an appearance on Oliver’s show Last Week Tonight, where the comedian said: “Theresa May if you’re still Prime Minister by the time this show airs, I implore you to send the Dark Lord to Brussels.”
Lord Buckethead won 249 votes in Maidenhead in last week’s election and has growing global fanbase.
His policies — which you can find in his online manifesto — included holding a referendum on whether there should be a second referendum on Brexit, which will be sure to excite ardent Remainers.
He also pledged to abolish the House of Lords apart from him and a ‘moratorium until 2022 on whether Birmingham should be turned into a star base.”
Oliver said that his show had flown Lord Buckethead over to New York to appear and that the person leading the Brexit negotiations should be “someone with a firm, leather-clad grasp of the issues. Someone with a bucket-list of demands and an honest, slightly muffled voice.”
The British comedian, who has been hosting his satirical talk show since 2014, ended by saying “is it an absurd idea? Yes. But it would not even be close to the stupidest thing that you [Theresa May] have ever done.”
I have not obliterated John Oliver with a laser. But I am in Earth City New York, I am on @LastWeekTonight, and I do like this glass desk… pic.twitter.com/BAGt1jRmP8
