It’s not uncommon for NFL players to hit the broadcast booth upon retiring. That’s what former All-Pro running back Eddie George did, with stints at Fox Sports and Big 10 Network.
On the other hand, becoming an actor is a much rarer feat for former NFL-ers, but that isn’t stopping George. After already appearing in a few movies, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s The Game Plan, the amateur thespian will take his talents to the stage.
George will star as Julius Caesar in The Nashville Shakespeare Festival’s presentation of the classic play throughout the month of January.
The event’s description states that an understudy, not George, will play the part of Caesar during the January 28 performance. We will have to wait and see if George can keep his starting job after a night off, or if like the NFL, the Nashville Shakespeare scene tends to value fresh legs over experience.
