The Golden State Warriors are going all in on the Dwight Howard sweepstakes, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.Warriors brass is willing to deal a package that includes Stephen Curry and future draft picks, but may have to take on Hedo Turkoglu’s albatross of a contract of 3 years at $34 million to sweeten the deal.
Golden State would be taking the chance that Howard may only be a short term rental, but are willing to bank on being able to convince the defending defensive player of the year on playing there long term.
The Warriors think they can sell Howard on the endorsement possibilities of a global NBA star in Silicon Valley. From tech companies to social media, Golden State thinks Howard would find an untapped market, as well as a nod from Adidas, who is preparing a new deal for him.
This comes about a week after it was revealed that Howard’s hometown Atlanta Hawks were interested in acquiring the All-Star centre. The Lakers and Nets are still seen by many experts as his two likeliest of destinations.
