Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who we should remember used to be one of the most powerful men in the world before he became the embodiment of the term “sex scandal,” is apparently descended from the owner of a French brothel. The Local reports that a new book, written by author Jean-Louis Beaucarnot, documents the family history of a number of French politicians. It uncovers that the former IMF chief’s great-grandfather was a violinist who also owned a hotel that doubled as a brothel.
The Daily Mail adds that Leon Bricot, Strauss-Kahn’s great-grandfather, was found guilty of murder after he killed a sailor who refused to pay for breaking a chair at the brothel/hotel. He died in a labour camp in what was then part of the French Antarctic.
