Last week, Business Insider Advertising put out a call to our wittiest readers, asking them to send us their best alternative captions for this Kerozen advertisement (at right).Over 150 submissions later — at least one third of which referenced “Animal Farm” (we get it, four legs good, two legs bad!) — we were finally able to whittle our favourite entries down to one winner.

The race was close, but Matt McGowan, a credit rating analyst in New York City, came up with our favourite caption as chosen by five BI editors in an anonymous reading. McGowan has won both the honour of being dubbed this week’s wittiest BI reader and a $50 gift certificate to

McGowan copy, along with that of the runner up and honorable mentions, is far more entertaining than Kerozen’s own: “Breeding ground for ideas.”
