An ex-Intel executive will testify in the high-profile insider trading case of Witman Capital LLC founder that Doug Whitman sent her flowers after he made money from her illicit tip on Google, Bloomberg Businessweek reports.During the first day of Whitman’s trial Tuesday, a federal prosecutor said three witnesses would testify they gave the hedge fund bigwig illegal information about Google, Marvell Technology, and Polycom.

“The defendant and his partners in crime decided the rules of stock trading did not apply,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher LaVigne told jurors in Manhattan, according to Bloomberg.

The witnesses, including the ex-Intel exec Roomy Khan, have all pleaded guilty to insider trading themselves and are cooperating with the government’s probe.

David Anderson, Whitman’s lawyer, claims his client traded on legitimate information, and that the three witnesses are “criminals and liars” who are testifying against Whitman to avoid prison.
