Villanova won the NCAA men’s basketball championship for the second time in three years, and the Wildcats did it in dominating fashion, 79-62, over Michigan.
The star of Monday night’s game was Donte DiVincenzo, whose 31 points off the bench included a flurry in the second half that helped thwart a late run by the Wolverines.
But maybe DiVincenzo’s most exciting play of the night was on the defensive end. It was a clean, two-handed block as Charles Matthews went in for a dunk during a mini Wolverines run in the second half. Michigan would later score on the possession with two free throws, but the block excited the crowd shortly before DiVincenzo hit back-to-back 3-pointers with eight minutes left that helped put the game out of reach.
Here is the play as it happened during the TBS broadcast.
But as beautiful as that play was, it was made even more stunning by Getty photographer Tom Pennington, who captured the moment in four gorgeous photos.
And here are the photos pieced together in a GIF.
