RIM’s CEO Thorsten Heins told reporters at BlackBerry World Tuesday that some of the next-generation BlackBerry phones will still have a physical keyboard. The statement came after Heins showed off a touchscreen-only BlackBerry prototype running the company’s new operating system, BlackBerry 10. The device caused a lot of people to question if RIM was about to abandon its trademark smartphone keyboards.

It sounds like there could be at least two new devices from RIM this fall, when BlackBerry 10 is supposed to be ready. One phone will have a keyboard and another will only have a touchscreen.
