Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s team last night said in a statement that he had heard of Tristane Banon’s plans to make a legal complaint against him and would countersue her for defamation if she did.Banon’s plans, first announced in May, come nearly eight years after the alleged attack took place in which Strauss-Kahn, her godmother’s husband (Brigitte Guillemette was DSK’s second wife) and her “fought on the floor… I kicked him, he unhooked my bra, he tried to open my jeans.”

Strauss-Kahn’s statement called her story “imaginary” and said he would sue for defamation.

Why is she suing now? Tristane Banon told the Guardian: “I don’t know anything about [the maid’s] case. If she lied about certain things, that doesn’t necessarily mean she lied about the rape. For me it has become unbearable. And today, to see Strauss-Kahn no sooner free than eating in a luxury restaurant with friends makes me ill.”

So as one set of charges against DSK will be dropped by the Manhattan DA, another set of charges of sex crimes will pick up.
