DING DONG: The Zune Is Finally Dead

Microsoft has finally taken the Zune off of life support, reports UberGizmo.It will no longer be producing Zunes, as indicated on its official support page.

Current Zune owners will be unaffected — Microsoft will still honour product warranties and the device will still work with Zune services, but that’s about where it ends.

This is the right approach and we’re surprised it took Microsoft this long to make it official. Now that Windows Phone 7 is its full mobile strategy, we’ll hopefully see some serious headway made there.
