Twitter and Google have had a combative relationship for almost a year now, ever since Tweets stopped showing up in search results. Will they ever get along again? Will we see tweets in search results?

An audience member asked Twitter CEO Dick Costolo those questions at the Wired Business Conference in New York.

Here was his carefully worded answer:

“We continue to talk to Google frequently and on an ongoing basis. They are a company that’s doing several different things right now. Those conversations have a complexity to them that is different than our conversations with the company.”

Not exactly a substantive response.

So, he was asked again about Google, just with slightly different wording.

Costolo’s answer:

“We continue to talk to Google frequently and on an ongoing basis. They are a company that’s doing several different things right now. Those conversations have a complexity to them that is different than our conversations with the company.”

When asked the same question a third way, Costolo said he would just be giving the same answer.

Clearly Costolo chose his words extremely carefully.

Looks like whatever is going on between Twitter and Google won’t be ending any time soon.
