In the past several months, Deutsche Bank has eliminated the styrofoam coffee cups that used to be available on each trading floor.
Now employees have to fetch cups from the cafeteria, a Deutsche Bank employee explained.
“I guess its a green thing,” the employee said.
Employees say this is less convenient, since they now must go to the cafeteria to get cups. What’s more, the cafeteria charges for the cups.
This seems to be a trend. At UBS, employees must now pay for the carboard trays they use to carry food back to their desks. We’re told this was put in place as an environmentally conscious measure.
