Auto show season is in full swing, and with new models and concepts debuting, it’s time for us to get in on the action. On Monday, we will be in Detroit for the first preview day of the 2012 North American International Auto Show at historic Cobo Hall.
What do we expect to see?
- Concept Cars – A raft of new concepts from the big manufacturers will be present. So far, only a few have announced or shown what they’ll be bringing. Lexus has the incredible looking LF-LC Coupe, Honda will be showing their vision for the next NSX supercar, Toyota has the NS-4 Plug-In Hybrid, and finally GM is bringing a mystery concept. We’re hearing it’s a Chevrolet.
- Production Cars – It looks like next-generation small cars will rule the show. Dodge is bringing the Dart, their replacement for the lackluster calibre, Acura is presenting the ILX, a Civic based small luxury car, Ford will have the new Fusion, Buick’s compact Encore crossover will debut, and Cadillac will show the small ATS sedan, among others.
- Girls – As we have for previous shows, we will try our best to get shots of as many booth babes as possible.
On Tuesday, Ford has invited us to their design studio for an inside look at how a car goes from idea to concept to the road. We will also be spending time at the Henry Ford Museum and will be sure to bring you as much inside coverage as we possibly can.
Full disclosure: We would not be able to attend without Ford, who offered to fly us to Detroit and grant us access to the show as well as their design studios.
