A 36-year-old woman remained dead at the bottom of a pool in Fall River, Mass. for two days before anyone noticed. Marie Joseph fell down the pool’s slide immediately after a nine-year-old boy, the two collided, and Joseph drowned, according to CBSBoston.com.The boy went to the lifeguard to tell him Joseph had fallen to the bottom of the pool, but he was ignored.
Joseph’s body was left at the bottom of the pool as people swam over her throughout Sunday, and on Monday and Tuesday. Falls River’s mayor told CBSBoston that city health inspectors had visited the pool on both Monday and Tuesday and did not notice Joseph’s body.
On Tuesday the inspectors tested the water and only noted the pool was “cloudy.” Finally, Joseph’s body was discovered Tuesday night when a group of kids jumped the fence after hours to go for a swim.
The terrible discovery has led the state to place the pool workers, and the inspectors on leave, as well as close down all 30 state-run deep water public swimming pools.
The case is currently still under investigation.
