A Texas Tech School of Law student will try her hand at the country’s biggest beauty pageant later this month.DaNae Couch, a third-year student at the school, won the Miss Texas competition and will compete for the Miss America title on January 12, KFYO reported Thursday.
But despite her big beauty pageant dreams, Couch insists she still has a passion for law.
“I definitely want to practice law and I’m trying to figure out exactly what I want to do right now, but I really have a passion for litigation because I love the ability to use my speaking skills to help other people,” Couch said in her Miss America contestant video.
And while some might scoff at the idea of a law student participating in a beauty pageant, the fact that Couch has earned nearly $30,000 worth of scholarships through the program is pretty impressive.
“And thanks to Miss America and thanks to my parents, I’ll be able to graduate from both Baylor and from Texas Tech School of Law completely debt free,” she said.
Couch’s fans have until 1:59 a.m. on Jan. 11 to vote for her.
