The Redskins beat the Giants 17-16 last night to move within one game of the NFC East lead, and owner Dan Snyder was fired up after the game.According to Robert Klemko of USA Today, Snyder was congratulating everyone in the locker room when he said to a staffer, “I hate those motherf—ers.”
The media was allowed into the locker room earlier than usual, which is how Klemko overheard the quote.
USA Today reports that the bad blood stems from a quote by Giants president John Mara, who said earlier in the week that the Redskins got off light and were “lucky they didn’t lose draft picks” after the NFL ruled that the team manipulated the salary cap in 2010.
The team had the Mara quote hanging up in their locker room before the game.
Snyder has been harshly criticised by Redskins fans for a long list of grievances, but perhaps this will endear him.
It was a huge win for Washington. At 6-6, they are now one game back of the 7-5 Giants for the NFC East lead. They will also own the tiebreaker over NY if they beat either the Eagles or Cowboys down the stretch.
