Mayor Bloomberg’s ban on large sodas looks much less ridiculous now in light of allegations that police are putting the kibosh on subway platform dancing.Caroline Stern and George Hess have filed a federal lawsuit against New York City, claiming police arrested them for doing the Charleston, the New York Post reported.

To make matters worse, Hess claims police tackled him to the ground after he started filming the arrest.

“We brought out the camera, and that’s when they called backup,” Stern told the New York Post. “That’s when eight ninja cops came from out of nowhere.”

The couple was waiting for a train when they heard a subway musician banging away on the drums and started to dance, the Post reported.

The cops allegedly came over and ordered them to stop before asking them for identification and taking them into police custody.
