Copyranter, an advertising blog closely followed in the agency world, has moved to Buzzfeed and in so doing revealed himself as Mark Duffy, a chief creative officer at Gigante Vaz Partners in New York.Duffy won 2012’s best regional real estate online campaign in the little-known IAC awards. Duffy gave little more information about himself, and in fact made his Linkedin profile private. That should start an interesting guessing game about his first official post for Buzzfeed, which contained these tidbits about companies he worked at before Gigante Vaz:
—Our top account executive was sleeping with a creative director, a copywriter (not me), an account supervisor, and, I believe, the married CEO of the firm, all at the same time. She later became president of the agency.
—After 5pm, said CEO would walk around the office rambling about “big ideas” while smoking a fat joint laced with cocaine and who knows what else. (He’s been dead for five years). Often accompanying him on the tours was his best friend, a boxer/mob hitman with hair plugs, who casually told us about his kills.
—Our New Business guy, not the sharpest X-Acto knife in the drawer, got us in a lot of doors. He then died of a cocaine overdose in the CEO’s pied-à-terre fuckpad.
As always, feel free to email us anonymously if you have any clues.
UPDATE: When reached for comment, Duffy responded on Twitter that the woman who became president of his former agency was not his boss: “She was never my boss. Her title was symbolic.”
He also said in a direct message: “You best hope we never meet. I’ve played hockey since I was 7 and will put your face out the back of your skull. Go ahead blog about that.”
