ESPN’s Elizabeth Merrill has one of the saddest stories we’ve ever heard, but definitely one worth reading.
It’s the story of Austin Hatch, a high school junior from Fort Wayne, Indiana, who has already been offered a basketball scholarship to Michigan. Unfortunately, just days after hearing the good news, he was in a small plane crash that killed his father and step-mother.

The incident was made even more tragic, by the fact eight years ago, Austin and his father survived a different plane crash that killed Austin’s mother, brother, and sister.

Austin is still recovering in a Michigan hospital, but his extended family and local community has rallied to support him.
