This Chart Refutes Two favourite Myths Of Climate Change sceptics

Even after well-known climate sceptic Richard Muller produced his own temperature data set that confirmed global warming is real, climate deniers continue to argue that climate change is a myth.

Two of the most common arguments against global warming are that “it’s cooling” and “it hasn’t warmed since 1998,” according to a survey by sceptical Science. But as the chart below from sceptical Science (via Grist) reveals, these myths are based on short-term data.

Periods of “cooling” last for less than 10 years, while the big picture shows significant warming. The last decade 2000-2009 was the hottest on record (out of the last six warming-cooling cycles), and 2010 was the hottest year on record.
