10 of the rarest and most expensive cars you can buy at Gosford Classic Cars' auction in Sydney

Gosford Classic Car Museum

Forty-eight rare, classic, super and muscle cars from Gosford Classic Cars will go under the hammer at Pickles auctions in Belmore in Sydney’s south on Saturday May 26.

Gosford Classic Cars is about an hour’s drive north of Sydney, and is the largest vintage car yard in Australia. It houses over $70 million of cars on display at any given time, and is run by Tony Denny, an entrepreneur and property developer who lives in the Central Coast.

In October last year, a similar, larger auction was held during which a 1968 Lamborghini Miura was up for auction at the reserve price of $2.6 million, but was passed in at $1.35 million.

This auction will be slightly smaller and the cars more affordable.

If you’re lucky, you might be able to nab an absolute bargain with the 1951 Holden 48-125, painted with a lively Australiana mural, or a bright-red 1984 Chevrolet Camaro. Both have an estimated value of $20,000 – $30,000 each.

On the other end of the scale, the most expensive of the lot are the 2006 Ferrari Superamerica and the 1985 Lamborghini Countach, both of which have estimated prices of $500,000 – $600,000 each.

Some of them have interesting back stories like the 1973 Aston Martin which was owned by Harry Vanda, the lead guitarist of the 1960’s Australian rock bank the Easybeats, and the 1999 Lamborghini Diablo is one of only 100 made in the world.

Take a look at the top feature and hero cars with estimated values that will be up for auction later this month.
