Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Thursday morning responded to criticism from President Donald Trump with a reference to first lady Melania Trump’s policy initiative to combat bullying on social media.
“Senator Cryin’ Chuck Schumer fought hard against the Bad Iran Deal, even going at it with President Obama, & then Voted AGAINST it!” the president tweeted. “Now he says I should not have terminated the deal – but he doesn’t really believe that! Same with Comey. Thought he was terrible until I fired him!”
Schumer, who represents Trump’s home state of New York in the Senate and also claims a borough of New York City as his home, responded minutes later: “#BeBest.”
The first lady announced her “Be Best” program on Monday afternoon in the White House’s Rose Garden. The initiative was designed to address societal issues facing children today in part by highlighting the importance of using social media positively.
Schumer opposed the Iran deal in 2015 but has said it would be a mistake to walk away from it now.
