A popular NYC assistant principal could be fired after an investigation found that he exchanged 3,000 texts with a female student. Christian Del Re, 32, is an assistant principal at Leon M. Goldstein High School in Brooklyn but has been on leave since the allegations emerged, NY1 reported.
“The investigation began in January, after other students reported the girl touched his tie and he touched her hair and that the two left school in his car on a few occasions,” NY1 reported.
The student in question is 18, so Del Re isn’t in legal trouble, but will likely lose his job and $100,000 salary, according to NY1.
Del Re allegedly exchanged nearly 3,000 text messages with the student over a three-month period, according to a report released by the Department of Education.
The married vice principal also allegedly spent hours on the phone with the student late at night.
We’ve contacted the DOE for the report, and will add more details as they come. Del Re hasn’t publicly commented on the case or named an attorney.
