Chinese stocks have ended a wild session deep in the red as an early stimulus-inspired rally was unwound in the latter parts of trade.

At the close the Shanghai Composite was down 1.64%, giving back a gain of more than 1.5% earlier in the session.

The wild intraday gyrations saw market turnover hit a new fresh record high of RMB 1.15 trillion.
