The number of wealthy people in China is ballooning, and Asia now has more millionaires than Europe.
As a result, the newly minted millionaires of China are looking for ways to differentiate themselves from one another.
Some buy art, others snap up real estate.
But the newest status symbol in China is actually a pilot’s licence, according to Jing Daily.
Already, 1,600 Chinese have obtained official pilot’s licenses, despite the fact that training costs between $9,278 and $12,371, Jing Daily reports.
And that number could continue to grow as China relaxes restrictions on airspace and newly wealthy Chinese citizens look for new ways to spend their money.
China currently has around 300 private jets crossings its skies, although only around 100 are legally registered, according Jing Daily.
