Air travel in China is growing at a very fast rate. With so much wealth in the economy and Chinese people travelling more and more, additional airports are a necessity. And China has one aggressive plan to expand the burgeoning industry.
According to The Telegraph, China is planning to build 70 new airports and expand 100 of its current ones.
In many countries, this would be a 10-year plan, but China is planning to accomplish all of this by 2015. That’s just three years away for those of you that aren’t great at counting.
Even though the growth of China’s economy, which is the fastest growing in the world, has slowed this year, the entire region is expected to turn in a $2 billion profit from air travel this year.
Bu 2015, China should have 230 airports. The Telegraph says that China had 2,888 commercial aeroplanes in service at the end of 2011 and the industry employed 1.8 million people.
