Chevrolet’s new ad for the Volt plug-in hybrid does something few other national car ads have done: use a four-lettered word (video below).
In the 30-second spot, from ad agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, happy Volt owner “Priya” prattles on about how rarely she has to stop at a gas station. At the end she says, “You should get a Volt because it’s going to save you a crapload of money.”
A screen caption indicates she meant to say “boatload.” The ad ran on CNN’s Headline News shortly after 6 p.m. Presumably, few kids were watching.
Chevy has nothing to lose, of course: sales of the Volt have been lousy so far.
