Chelsea has reportedly agreed to play £45 million ($75M USD) for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres on the final day of the European transfer window. That doesn’t count the £36 million they’ll have to pay Torres in salary once he signs.
Other reports say Liverpool will turn around and give £35M of that to Newcastle United, so that they can replace Torres with Andy Carroll.
Chelsea is also shelling out another £66 million (£21M in transfer fees + £45 in wages) for Brazilian defender David Luiz.
