After four months of pitching investors, CheckThis has raised a $910,000 seed round from Lerer Ventures, SV Angel, Index Ventures, Betaworks and Seedcamp. Angel investors Taavet Hinrikus, Steve Martocci and Jared Hecht also participated.
The site walks a fine line between nothing and a blog. CheckThis is a quick way to create and share web pages.
Users can either “Tell” (blog), “Sell” (post an item), “Ask” (create a question) or “Invite” (create an event).
CheckThis wants to be more than a Twitter status update without all the text of a full-blown Tumblr post. It has a lot of social tools so its users can spread their messages quickly.
It launched last October and was founded by Melvyn Hills and Frederic della Faille. More than 4,000 CheckThis pages are being created per month and each is seen, on average, more than 260 times.
