Stunning Photochrome Prints Of Venice From 120 Years Ago

Photo: Library of Congress

We occasionally like to raid the Library of Congress’ vast photo archive to showcase incredible images owned by U.S. taxpayers.Today, we journey to turn-of-the-(20th)-century Venice, from the legendary archive of the Detroit Publishing Company.

The images are created by exposing negatives to enhanced amounts of light, then hand-touching them with added colour.

The results are spectacular.
