We told you earlier today that in the South, particularly in Florida, some Applebee’s restaurants stop being your “neighbourhood Grill and Bar” after 10 p.m. and turn into nightclubs until closing at 2 a.m.The lights go down. The music goes up. People start dancing in their booths, the aisles, and eventually on the bar.

There’s also karaoke and full moon “blacklight” parties, where everything glows.
Oh yeah, and a LOT of alcohol gets consumed.
The clubs are not part of Applebee’s regular marketing or branding, but the chain does have a web site telling you where to find the nearest one.
Club Applebee’s nights look as if they’re boosting late-night alcohol sales. After 10 p.m., the bars often switch from proper glassware to red plastic cups — the universal indicator of “we’re expecting you to get drunk.”
About 100 Applebee’s joints are also late night clubs, according to senior VP-beverages, Brian Masilionis.

B103.9, Southwest Florida's hits station, is in the house. (This station also stages an annual pregnant bikini contest, but not at Applebee's).
