We are about half-way through “opening day” in Major League Baseball. Among the highlights on day 1 was Jason Heyward hitting a home run in his first at bat of the season for the second consecutive year.
That is the 19th career home run for the young phenom who is still just 21 years old. But if he is ever to become the Braves all-time leading home run hitter, he has a ways to go before he catches some guy named Henry Aaron.
On the other hand, if Heyward was playing for the Rays, he could be their leader in just a few seasons.
Here is the complete list of all-time home run leaders for each team. There are many not-so-surprising names on the list. But there are also a few we wouldn’t have guessed. After all, who doesn’t remember the Nate Colbert era with the Padres fondly? And despite having a start that faded so quickly, it is amazing that Darryl Strawberry is the Mets all-time home run hitter…
