More than a decade after playing in his final NBA game, Michael Jordan still sells more basketball shoes than any other player and it is not even close.
In 2013, Jordan branded shoes accounted for $US2.5 billion in sales, up from $US2.0 billion the previous year. The next four players accounted for just $US565 million in shoe sales in 2013, led by LeBron James with $US300 million in sales.
Jordan is believed to take in about $US100 million from his deal with Nike and the Jordan Brand subsidiary. Jordan Brand on its own is the third most popular shoe brand among NBA players with 39 of 440 wearing Jordans, behind only Nike and Adidas.
The sales of shoes, apparel, and equipment by Jordan Brand has helped Jordan to crack Forbes’ annual list of billionaires for the first time this year.
